Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why are we doing this?
OUR MISSION …changing how people think, both inside and outside the church. The mission of Serve Our Stockton (SOS) Day is to become a catalyst for a shared vision to actively involve neighboring churches, government, for-profit and non-profit organizations, and businesses - to engage in their community in ways that clearly demonstrate the power of God's love through meeting real needs.  We want to show the community our love and support and honor the name of Jesus.
  2. How do I sign up?
You can sign up online or with your church during weekend services starting Sunday, July 4, 2010. Don't wait! Projects fill up fast!
  3. I've never done anything like this before. Where do I start?
We have a project for everyone!  You can browse projects by category or organization, and please note that many of our projects do not require any particular skill - just a willing heart and a pair of hands. We even offer "Light Duty" and "Family Friendly" projects! Sign up for a morning and/or afternoon time slot and wait to hear more from your Project Team Leader. We're here to help you. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us at serveourstockton@yahoo.com.
  4. What about kids? Can we bring them along?
Yes! Look for a "Family Friendly" project! Kids can make a great addition to the serving team, provided the project matches their maturity and skills. You'll know best what project will be a good fit for your family. If you want to sign up an entire group, you may decide to designate someone to stay with very young children, so everyone else can be free to serve.
  5. Where will the projects be located?
Majority of the projects will be conducted in the Stockton community.
  6. Do volunteers get T-shirts?
T-shirts will be available with a $5 donation, but are not required to serve.
  7. Can I sign up for any service project?
Yes. Anyone can sign up for any service project with any church partner.  It's fun to meet and work alongside new faces for the common goal of serving our community.
